About
In his 1853 poem ‘Dying Speech of an old Philosopher’, Walter Savage Landor says: I strove with none, for none was worth my strife; Nature I loved; and next to Nature, Art. These words of his have always been an inspiration for me. Despite how ‘real’ we may want to be, I think that we can never be as ‘real’ as nature. Therefore most of my work draws on the themes of nature, art and identity. This idea is expressed as surrealistic and visual poetry through animation, installation and photography.
Instead of addressing a so-called new concept, I would rather explore problems of ‘Identity’. I believe that we do not need to be ‘creative’ in order to evaluate something ‘creative’, and that there is no such thing as an original idea. To my mind, ideas are always adapted and extended to other circumstances, which can be viewed as both positive and negative
